All Things Done and Dusted... Well Almost

My week at New Designers, no doubt like everyone else's, was spent frantically unloading a van with bits of scaffolding, unknown pieces of white board and various boxes. Then coming back to put it all up on the Tuesday, with discussions centred around creating not only a brilliant display for each individual, but one that works cohesively together, to create a strong and exciting University College Falmouth display.
The private view was fantastic, especially with the Absolut Vodka cocktails flowing, interesting guests to talk to and all having a good time with friends on the course hoping for a brilliant few days exhibiting...

Which they absolutely were, of course with a lot, A LOT, of sitting, watching, hoping for someone to look through your portfolio, getting excited about friends' successes and interest in their work too. Looking around at other stands, seeing friends from Foundation courses and having friends come to visit your own stand.

It was a strange experience, the constant, but yet almost undetectable feeling of being on tenterhooks, yet at the same time trying to be as realistic as possible. Now, we are all still waiting, to see who picked up a business card, who liked your work enough (hopefully!) to get in touch in the weeks to follow. It was also very sad saying the final goodbyes to people we are all used to seeing and living with everyday, no more studio time together and informal chats about our work (rare) and gossip (most of the time!). To all of the girls and the tutors, I miss you all, already!

I shall endeavour to keep you posted on any developments as and when I can, and when I get the photos back will post my display at New Designers.
