I have been very busy recently so haven't had five minutes to spare! However, I have been working on improving my technique and skill in certain areas of my embroidery practice, so here is a little glimpse into what I have been up to!
I have been playing around with fun, whimsical ideas for a while like my safari embroideries and my swans, but I wanted to steer clear of animals. This is what I came up with!
A little update on pieces that I have been working on.
I seem to be fascinated by a bird every season and this time I have been looking at Swans. I love the fact that you can make embroideries of the same animal completely different using lots of techniques or keeping it incredibly simple.
I have been playing with graphic floral shapes and light and shade. It's been really fun to balance colour, texture and shape to create fun, floral designs.
Over the Christmas break I have been continuing to create samples for Spring 2017 - I know it seems a long way off! I have been having a lot of fun with ice cream motifs this season!
I hope you like them!
I have been stitching away with a somewhat nautical intent this week. Spring has sprung in the world of textiles and boats and buoys have been making my world swim!
Here is a little peek at my inspiration (thank goodness for Pinterest!)
Even though the shows are telling us what to wear for AW15/16 and we haven't even got to Spring 15, with the rain and wind. I have been sitting inside designing for Spring Summer 16! Phew, at least it is making me a little bit more optimistic about spring finally making its appearance!
Here is a sneaky peak at what I have been up to for my agency See+QUIN
One of the special projects I was lucky to be involved in during my internship at MW was the 15 year celebration with Swarovski. Re working Matthew's iconic dresses (available on net-a-porter.com) into super sparkly Swarovski dreams!
Here is the accompanying video... Enjoy!
